The Massagetae, or Massageteans, (Greek: Μασσαγέται (Massagétai), Iranian: *Masyaka-tā) were an ancient Eastern Iranian nomadic tribal confederation, who inhabited the steppes of Central Asia, north-east of the Caspian Sea in modern Turkmenistan, western Uzbekistan, and southern Kazakhstan.
